Spring Heel Jack's Who indeed?
No one knows for sure who Jack the heel is actually spring. This gave rise to various theories about the true identity of this creature.
Some believe that Jack is an extra terrestrial creature with red eyes and breath retro reflective phosphor. Some believe that he is the Devil who was invited by the perpetrators of the occult.
However, according to those who are skeptical, the report sightings Jack is just a mass hysteria triggered by the belief the bogeyman or devil who believed many people in the 19th century. Of course, this is the easiest answer. However, for other researchers, there is a more reasonable answer.
Some authors believe that Jack really is just an action man with the equipment and then imitated by others in subsequent years.
One who believes in this theory was Sir John Cowan, the mayor of London when he terrorized the city. He believes that a group of wealthy young people who may have been fraudulent responsible for creating the character Jack.
A popular rumor that circulated in 1840 mentions that Jack is actually an Irish nobleman named Henry de la Poer Beresford III, The Marquess of Waterford.
This accusation came as the nobleman famous for his favorite would be rude humor, vandalism and bad behavior toward women. This bad behavior makes it dubbed "Mad Marquess."
In 1880, the author E. Cobham Brewer also accused the Marquess Waterford as Jack Spring Heeled. According to him:
"Ordinary Marquess entertain themselves with startling pedestrians, he used to frighten them, and from time to time people always follow their behavior."
Henry de la poer Beresford III
Marquess of Waterford died in 1859. Brewer believes, if after him, the Marquess fad has been imitated by others.
Author of "The Legend and Bizarre Crimes of Spring Heeled Jack" named Peter Haining also believe in this theory. According to Haining, Marquess may have asked his friends to create tools that enable it to jump high and spewing fire breath.
Other arguments are enough to strengthen this theory is the existence of Marquess in accordance with the emergence of Jack attacks.
As additional evidence, Haining says if a kid has ever seen Jack admitted watching the letter W in the hood he wore. This could be the initials of "Waterford".
But interestingly, if the lord it is Jack, what kind of equipment he uses?
During World War II, German soldiers were reported ever using a spring in their shoes. When they use it, which is obtained is a broken toe and heel.
If the Marquess of Waterford is Jack, then surely he has a very interesting equipment.
Although we may never know the identity of this creature was, however, may be a day of thick darkness of night, Jack the heel spring will come and jump back.
